"Hell Arrives" & "Makyrland Lithograph". Taken from Slayers Club.
Happy 28th Anniversary, DOOM! Before DOOM 2: Hell on Earth and Ultimate DOOM, there was just DOOM and I believe today is its initial release date. You know, I could've been way more creative and write something more appropriate for this celebration, but instead I decided to use it as an opportunity to maybe finally resolve this two year-long annoyance of mine. There's next to no chances this post would reach the right people, but it's still worth a shot, and perhaps you have or had similar issue on your own: personally, I'm curious.
Either way, I want to keep this short and to the point. Three years ago everyone, including id Software & Bethesda, celebrated 25th Anniversary of this classic series. As a part of their contribution to such ironic milestone, they revealed The Slayers Club: an official club for all fans of the DOOM series. There you can read latest news related to the franchise, view Fan Art Wall and earn some DOOM Eternal skins by getting more Slayers Points. Over the course of Year of DOOM, Slayers Club hosted several giveaways with many prizes and it just so happens that I've actually won a couple of prizes there. Awesome, I know... Except...
Summary.
The thing is, I'm still waiting for April's "Hell Arrive" Poster and November's "Urdak" Lithograph to this very day. To be fair, I've expected the delivery to take a long time: I was new to that and one of my good friends who was more familiar with ordering & getting stuff from other countries shared some of his experience, which resulted in me being very patient when it comes to waiting for my googies. You know, that's just how it is.
First time I've approached them in June 23, 2019 to just make sure that everything is alright. It's just around 6 weeks since I've won that giveaway at the time and I was a bit worried about typing in wrong information or something like that. At the time they just referred to the sweepstakes rules and that was about it: basically, just waited for a bit.
A lot has changed a year after that... Well, a year and a day: July 24, 2020. That's when I decided to bug Bethesda's Customer Support for a second time in spite current state of the world. After all, I waited for two prizes now and it started before the unfortunate world-wide events. So I thought there's nothing wrong with approaching them. I was asked to share with some additional information, such as what items I've waiting for, Slayers Club username and etc. They send it to the Slayers Club team for verification, but members of the customer support noted that it would take a while due to pandemic...
Somewhere around 7 months (or 229 days, to be exact) later, I opened a third ticket with a desire to get an update on my situation since at the time "Giveaways" was hidden away for some time. Again, I was asked to send the same type of information as a year ago. After that I was notified about provided answer, but there was none. So I replied in utter confusion and then I did receive an reply where I was ensure that they send it to the special team for a review. Sadly, they couldn't provide me specific details as to when I would be able to hear back from Slayers Club team. Alright, I get it.
This time I decided to be more persistent instead of waiting for another 6-12 months. In October 26, 2021, I've sent yet another ticket where I was more... straight forward, let's just say that. At this point, I just wanted to get some kind of answer from them, even if it is a "Sorry, we can't send you those prizes because blah-blah-blah". The sheer amount of annoyance I had due to this debacle started to get into my head a bit, especially after I got a cool thing sent to me from United States after a month of waiting. Again, my ticket was escalated to a specialized team without any guarantees and... That's where I'm now. "Waiting on agent" as of the writing of this post. They haven't replied to me (yet?).
Request.
I think it's clear that I don't even expect to actually get those prizes at this point. It's sad, but I suppose stuff like that happens sometimes. At the very least, I think I deserve to get a direct confirmation of that without any additional details: I'm not even asking for a reasoning behind. It would be nice to know if I actually haven't passed certain requirement or something along those lines, but I will be fine with gettins a simple "no".
Perhaps that's my "punishment" for not being able to run DOOM 16 on my current setup: I'm still sad that my Lenovo G505S just can't handle it, no matter how I tried at the time. DOOM is one of many game franchise I mostly enjoy, even if I might be more critical about it in certain aspects. All I'm hoping for is just to get some clarity with this giveaway fluff. A simple, final answer that would allow me to finally leave it all behind me.
Again, if you've experienced similar issue: let me know how you did (or didn't) resolve it. In hindsight, I probably should've been more "annoying" to them, but I didn't want to potentially get blocked: who knows how it would've went, you know. Although I'll note that folks at Bethesda's Customer Service were pretty helpful and nice to talk to. I'm not blaming them for anything as they're just doing their job the best way they can or allowed to do. Maybe I'll reach Slayers Club team through some kind of Christmas miracle.
