October 2022 Update

Improvised "Hall Update" Thumbnail.

Despite this blog getting slightly more attention than usual in the last 30 or so days, you would've assumed that things slightly got better. Obviously, they didn't. It's not a surprise that there's nothing really positive to highlight in current times, but it is still concerning. My current routine goes on and on, days & weeks blend in together. Something good might shine on the horizon every now and then, but it's so dark around here for this light be here long enough. It's kind of the same as previous months, but also not.

My copywriting workflow is as scuffed as ever with constant delays of the job itself, my written material and payment. Especially the latter, I'm still waiting for the money I really should've got by now. Although the latest work went very smooth since they gave me an easy topic for short texts. Oh yeah, I legally can't leave the country now due to family debt. Not that there was any way to do so. Or any part of the world to go to, for that matter.

Summary.

There's another event this month that could warrant an Event "article" from me. In fact, Minecraft Live 2022 should start in the same day when this post gets published: in a few hours or so. I actually forgot to mention it in September 2022 Update since the teaser for dropped before it. Wouldn't really comment on this year's Mob Vote until after it ends: either in aforementioned Event post or in November's Update. You can look at my thoughts regarding Realms Deep 2022 in the meantime... I said to nobody.

I played some good old demos. Started with Cultic since I promised someone to check that out, and it was weird. And I don't talk about the performance issues that I definitely expected from (at the time) vague system requirements. Even though I haven't finished the demo itself, I messed out the first level to get the general feel of the game. It was enjoyable and I had a good time, but for some reason Cultic just didn't click for me. Maybe I'm just not the mood. That's like Quake 2 all over again: it's alright, but I can't go back to it.

What about other games? I enjoyed Wizordum's demo in spite of its unstable moments and a couple of visual bugs I've spotted. I wasn't as lucky with the secrets since I forgot how those work in titles like Wolfenstein 3D due to my lack of experience with them. So that felt rather embarrassing, but who really cares... It's not HROT demo, there're no achievements. Chasm: The Rift got a re-release! And a demo version! It was fine. I thought it would never happen. Really wanna know how SNEG managed to pull it off. Not sure there's a chance for getting A Little Chat with someone from there, but it would've been nice. My scuffed interview with Revae is still the only one I got, and you, my dear reader who is not here, should check it out since REKKR: Sunken Land reached its first anniversary recently.

Not sure if I would be able to push myself for a proper post this month. Either balance it with negative and positive "articles" or go for something more neutral. Perhaps I would finally revisit Warcraft 3 after catching up with it, but there're other gaming topics to write about. There's always are. After all, I had a lot of things planned before I moved Ilko's Hall into maintenance mode since June 2022. I can just officially "upgrade" it to personal blog and branch out to other stuff like film, comic, books, cartoons, etc. Not keep it short under this "Personal" label. I will think about it in order to distract myself from grim reality (as always), but whenever it would actually lead to any kind of change is hard to say.

It's pretty clear that I don't know what I'm doing when it comes to this blog. Feels strange to actually look at its stats that's reportedly not exactly accurate. Maybe I should dive deeper into this stuff with Google Analytics again and actually understand it this time. Having some sort of recap of Hall's yearly result could be interesting.
