April 2023 Update

"Monthly Update" Thumbnail.

Usually, I tend to write these posts in advance to have them ready in case I get pretty busy. This time I wasn't quite ready to accommodate for it, so here I am writing this silly thing in late March 14th before going back to derpy work. Some may argue that's really how it should be, and I shouldn't struggle with writing "articles" quickly, especially since I'm running this blog and doing copywriting type of thing. I totally agree with that though.

There's a lot of things for me to go through, which is both surprising and kind of exciting. Previous month felt kind of slow in hindsight. These last ~30 days were pretty slow for all sorts of reasons: good, bad and iconically weird. Without further ado, let's scroll through these crazy chronicles. From top to bottom, but in reverse.

Relentless Routine.

While I definitely should make more pictures of my cats and talk about them, it's kind of difficult to revisit the topic of Ciri and her breast cancer. I believe it's been almost a year already and she is still with me (I'm not living alone, but I'll ignore that for consistency). This is great on itself, but the desease is clearly taking its toll with her belly & legs balding. There's also been two horrible episodes where her tumor got hit most likely during mass brawl involving all four cats.

My laptop didn't gave me odd Blue Screens of Death this time, but it doesn't mean that things didn't get weird. I had one sudden shutdown that was seemingly caused by overheating and that's going to be major source of concern for me since it's getting closer to Summer. I'll try to look more into potential options for getting new setup, preferably computer. I have nothing against laptops as I've been using them since pretty much the beginning, but it's about damn time I will transition to some kind of computer since I'm not really using the portable aspect of laptops anyway. I'm still a few months away from it.

I don't want to talk all that much about my copywriting-esque gig. It's just a work I do, you know? I do what my employees ask me to and get to do whatever they want to with the end results. Getting a résumé sounds like a good idea, but I was asked to not use the work material for it. They fully acquire it, so there's nothing wrong here. Besides, I wouldn't want all these random posts to represent me. My blog is a random mess on itself, but at least I get to choose the topics I cover and it's about having fun. Not getting paid.

Pleasant Gaming Action.

Well, I'm back to regularly playing games again. I started playing Stardew Valley after having the game in my Steam library for years. I had it coming for a while, but I want to save it all for a dedicated post that I would hopefully manage to write soon-ish. In the meantime, I'm sharing occasional updates on Twitter while it still exists. After jumping from one game to the other with the intent of getting every achievement (if it has them) it has to offer, having a slow start and going with the flow is refreshing.

Stardew Valley will be my main game I'll be spending tens of hours playing, but it doesn't mark the end of me launching other titles and being a completionist. In fact, I have an overall list of games I need to (re)beat and/or complete:

  • Stardew Valley — I doubt it's going to happen this year, but still.
  • Dear Esther: Landmark Edition — claimed a free copy on Steam a long time ago.
  • HROT — it's getting a full release soon and I already technically completed it.
  • Hexen: Beyond Heretic — should revisit my second Cleric playthrough and finish it.
  • Terraria — kind of want to cheese my way through all its achievements.
  • Minecraft: Bedrock Edition — Trails & Tales is coming and I have only a few achievements left.
  • Hexen 2 — started my first playthrough as Paladin and I shall finish my journey.
  • WRATH: Aeon of Ruin — anticipating its long time coming full release.
  • Wizard of Legend — might hold onto it until 2024.

Speaking of HROT, I played it as well. Enjoyed new levels and achievements. I'm excited for its full release in May or June. There's one awesome thing I really need to try. Not sure if it ends up happening, but it would be totally amazing if it does.

Everything Else.

My Spider-Man: The Animated Series is completed! Went through its final season before picking up Stardew Valley. Six Forgotten Warrior arc with Electro is just too ridiculous. The Return of Hydro-Man delivered us another iconic scene. Secret Wars was alright and Spider Wars is still the best iteration of Spider-Verse ever. Despite some odd moments here and there, this cartoon is excellent. It's a great product of its time that was clearly made by people who love the character and original source material, which resulted in a series that influenced future Spider-Man projects, and I'm sure it will keep doing so for years to come.

There're a few planned posts for Ilko's Hall that I would like to release within the next ~30 days. Besides completing my latest series of Just an Idea "articles" about MCU Spider-Man's second trilogy, there's also a game anniversary I don't want to miss and a couple of things I've mentioned before. Looks like it's going to be a chaotic process, but this is exactly the kind of problems you're supposed to face and overcome in adult life. I think?

Overall, I'm just surprised that I'm feeling kind of hopeful now. Which is sort of weird, since things around me are making sure to put me back into total misery. Despite this, I was able to be rather productive lately. I'm not going to talk about the obviously terrible times we're currently surviving through and what were my main takeaways from recent reflections (there's a lot, trust me). There're a lot of things I need to deal with in the future. I've given up on things too many times. Now, I shall keep going and be determined.
